Downey High School
Public schools continue to struggle to fund the visual and performing arts programs. As a result, the Downey High School Band & Color Guard program heavily relies on the majority of the cost such as food, transportation, competition fees, coaching staff, musical instruments, various equipment and uniforms/costumes to be funded by the families of the students enrolled in the program. To assist and help mitigate the cost, through fundraising the Downey High Band Boosters was founded as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization composed of these parents/guardians with a child/children enrolled in the program. The Downey High School Marching Band & Color Guard proudly represents Downey High as they perform in a multitude of community parade competitions and non-competitions, field tournaments, football games, pep rallies, Winter Guard competitions along with Winter and Spring Concerts allowing students to build meaningful relationships with other schools, parents, and more importantly the community.
